UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs

United Nations Environment Programme
The principal UN organization responsible for collecting and disseminating information about the global environment. It has helped negotiate a number of global environmental agreements.

United Nations Development Programme
The world’s largest multilateral source of grant technical assistance for sustainable human development. It co-ordinates UN human development activities. It includes the Human Development Report, an annual assessment of the state of human development globally.

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations
Has a global mandate to raise levels of nutrition and standards of living and to improve agricultural productivity. This UN agency has information on global agriculture, fishery and forest issues.

The index shows the extent to which countries across the globe produce long, happy and sustainable lives for their people. The index ranks countries based on their efficiency, and how many long and happy lives each produces per unit of environmental output.

Local Governments for Sustainability is an international association of local governments as well as national and regional local government organizations that have made a commitment to sustainable development.

International Institute for Sustainable Development
The IISD is a is a Canadian-based not-for-profit organization promoting change towards sustainable development.
